The Rules


There are two awards, a Contact Award, and an Activators Award.
The Contact Award certificate is for any Licensed Amateur or Short Wave Listener.
We award this certificate to applicants who can verify contacts with a minimum of
7 Great Lakes Lighthouses/Lightships.
The Activators Award is for any Licensed Amateur who activates 5 Great Lakes Lighthouses/Lightships.


Requirements for the Awards:


          I. The Contact Award.

             a.) To claim the "Basic Contact Award", work at least 7 
                 Lighthouses/Lightships on any 2 of the 5 Great Lakes.
                 The lighthouse/lightship MUST be on the Great Lakes.

                 i.) Great Lakes States and Provinces that contain Lighthouses are: 
                     New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, 
                     Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ontario.
                ii.) The five Great Lakes are: Erie, Huron, Michigan, Ontario, and
                     Superior.
               iii.) The following bodies of water DO NOT count for this award,
                     unless it is where these bodies of water meet one of the 5 Great
                     Lakes:
                        Lake St. Clair, St. Lawrence River, St. Marys River, 
                        St. Clair River or Georgian Bay.


This is a certificate for any Licensed Amateur or Short Wave Listener. We award this certificate to applicants who can verify contacts with a minimum of 7 Great Lakes Lighthouses/Lightships.

b.) To claim an endorsement to the "Basic Contact Award", i.) Earn the "Basic Contact Award". ii.) Work an additional 5 lighthouses/lightships on the Great Lakes. II. The Activators Award. a.) To claim the "Basic Activators Award", activate at least 5 Lighthouses/Lightships on any of the Great Lakes. Also, see ARLHS FAQ #3 activating a light b.) All activated lighthouses/lightships must be on the Great Lakes as stated above in I.A.i, I.A.ii, and I.A.iii c.) Include a QSL card from each operation with your application. d.) To claim an endorsement to the "Activators Award", i.) Earn the "Basic Activators Award". ii.) Activate an additional 2 lighthouses/lightships on the Great Lakes. III. Fees: a.) All fees include shipping and handling. b.) The fees for the Basic Contact or Activators Award are: i.) $5.00 for US ii.) $6.00 for DX (in U.S. funds) c.) The fees for endorsement seals are: i.) For endorsements applied for at the same time as the Basic Contact or Activators Award: 1.) For U.S. and DX, $1.00 for each endorsement, in addition to the award fee. ii.) For endorsements applied for separately from the Basic Contact or Activators Award: 1.) For the U.S., $2.00 for the first endorsement, and $1.00 for each additional endorsement sent at the same time. 2.) For DX, $3.00 for the first endorsement, and $1.00 for each additional endorsement sent at the same time. d.) Make check, in US funds, payable to Ted Sarah,include funds with app! IV. Application Procedure: a.) Send: i.) The signed Application Form, ii.) confirmation QSLs (copies only!), and iii.) fees, in US dollars, made payable to Ted Sarah, iv.) to: Ted Sarah W8TTS MDXA Awards Manager 239 Bermont Ave. Munroe Falls,OH 44262-1105
